A group of our Hereford foster carers got together today to learn how to crochet. Amanda Bailey, wife of Hereford Manager Dave Bailey, lead the group and everyone enjoyed spending time together chatting and making some very pretty crochet flowers.
The group thoroughly enjoyed the morning and intend to meet regularly to improve on their newfound talent!
Dave said the session had the additional benefit of allowing foster carers to spend time together in a relaxed environment, where they could meet and talk to other foster carers and build support and friendship groups. This was a key element in helping the foster carers support the young people they fostered.
Dave added that his Young People at Heart team supported foster carers and young people across the region, including Hereford, Malvern, Tewkesbury, Gloucester and Swindon, and he welcomed enquiries about fostering with Young People at Heart from existing foster carers who might want to transfer, and households new to fostering.
