Building a connection and relationship with the horse can help to address issues of trust, trauma and anxiety, horses can offer an extraordinary amount of emotional support. Young people engage in activities such as grooming, feeding and leading a horse while be supervised by a therapist.
We have seen young people become more regulated and have more self-confidence and responsibility . One young person became an experienced horse rider and started jumping. She formed a very strong connection with her pony which helped on days she found she needed time away to regulate her emotions.
