Our birthday parties are one of our biggest events in the year and this year did not disappoint! With each office holding a local party this year our Hereford Team went to Cranham Scout Centre where everyone took part in lots of different activities which included Archery, climbing on the Traverse Wall, racing down the hill on grass sleds, which was a huge success with our young people and staff members! It was great to see our young people, foster carers and staff team unite and help each other through lots of team building exercises. The day ended with everybody melting marshmallows around a self-built fire before singing happy birthday and tucking into a slice of cake… or two!
Our Essex team headed to Danbury Essex Outdoors. It was great to see so many of our foster families enjoying themselves, as well as pushing themselves to try new activities and overcome their fears! From archery to low ropes, obstacle course to zipwire, everybody did fantastically. It was so lovely to see our young people encouraging each other to complete the activities and to see the older children helping the little ones conquer the activities and keeping everyone involved no matter their ability. We really are so lucky to have such amazing foster families!
Our Yorkshire Team went to Kingswood Activity Centre. The weather was perfect for the day and the sun dances paid off for normal rainy Yorkshire! The young people did us all proud, with their attitudes and pushing themselves, to try new experiences. Doing low ropes, rock climbing, laser tag and many more activities a great day was had by all. To see the young people’s faces on the day, makes all the planning an absolute joy.
With Gary and Davina, Founders of Young People at Heart attending each event they were treated to 3 lots of cake! It is such a joy to see our young people all together playing and catching up from previous events. We look forward to doing it all again next year!
